Another wonderful book from Tanya Allan - this one left me in tears several times. The characters and plot are up to her usual standard, being so realistic as to stir my emotions repeatedly. As Joe takes his life in hand and takes the final, fateful steps to become the real person, to become Josie, we get to see how wonderfully supportive her family can be. We also see how Josie is much more real than Joe ever was and how her personality blossoms.Yes, this story stirs your emotions, bringing me to tears several times as it illustrates how difficult life can be for those undergoing transition. Tanya explores the emotions and self-doubt that harbor within the trans-gendered, even those with a strong family relationship and a good support network. Josie's parents go through some obvious difficulties in dealing with the changes, but they persevere due to the love they have for their child. Would that all of us could say the same.......
I would readily recommend this book to anyone who wishes to read a lovely coming of age story, a beautiful love story, or simply a fantastic story about how one young woman fights through her doubts to become the real person inside.

Great character development
I have read and reread this book several times and I love it over and over. I am still waiting for the sequel that she had started.
This was a very good book to read. I don't normally read sex change stories but I'm happy I read this one for sure.
Interesting from start to finish and holds up among the other great Tanya Allan books.
Her historical background interwove in her stories is great.
Tanya Allan is a good writer. Her stories actually have a plot and character development, which can not be said for many of the authors of this type of literature. Tanya 's stories are without exception readable and grab the your interest immediately. I always look forward to a new story by Tanya Allan.
